West Midlands Ambulance Service are doing a £10,000 study to identify what made good leadership. So they sent a survey to 4,000 employees of the West Mids Ambulance Service and one of the questions asks if Hitler was a cool leader.

Obviously Hitler was a better leader than Brown because Hitler was actually elected but it's a shame the NHS don't spend that money on anything that would be of any benefit to the public.

To be fair Hitler was a very good leader - at least to begin with, his later years were pretty sketchy.

He took a broken fucked country and took it on a campaign that very nearly succeeded in conquering Europe. If that isn't an example of good leadership then what is?

Pretty sure plenty of people are jumping on the "omg how can you mention any positive aspects of hitler" bandwagon. I'm pretty sure he was a good leader and a damn fine public speaker. Shame was he was also a bigoted fascist piece of scum in many many ways.

My theory is that the qualities that make a good leader - strong personality, strong convictions etc etc - also make them prime candidates for being a bit of a nutcase with the power they find themselves with.

In an ideal world the only people with power would be those who find the concept of power abhorrent. In the real world of course this doesn't happen and where there is a gap for someone to rise up and take control of other people, there are many people waiting to fill it - most likely not with good intentions.
