I'm finding my insurance a bit high atm.. aged 25, CBT/Provisional, Honda XR125 (2005), no NCB.

Fully comp is costing me £55 a month with Express Insurance/Zenith.

Gave 'em a ring to knock it down to TPFT,which they said they could do only by cancelling current policy and re-doing one, and it came out more expensive. WTF? Girl on the phone said the rates fluctuate every month so some months it's higher than others. Confused

Currently looking for a cheap but reliable insurer. Found MCE who are cheap at about £26 per month but reviews online make 'em seem like cowboys.

I know these threads must come up every 5 minutes, but could anyone offer me some advice/good companies?

Cheers.

Anyone can provide insurance easily, the test is always how they deal with a claim.

I built my NCD up purely by going with the cheapest (Hastings Direct for 3 years) and prayed for no accidents to occur. It seems tough to pay extra for alleged better customer service for something you hopefully wont need and the way I view it, for every guy moaning about how cack an insurance company is, how many were left satisified but didnt feel the need to post it on the interwebz?

Insurers are like their customers and cherry pick who they want to provide cover for.
Some only want no risk people who will pay them and not claim.

But some see money to be made in the madness of youth so balance occasional hits with good underwriting policy and judgement etc.

I use price comparison sites as it seems easier than phoning a million companies.
Always phone to check when you narrow it down as I have NEVER got the same price online as I got when I called them up.

I am with Bennetts and so is the wife now. They offered me the best premium by far. They are easy to deal with and specilized Bike insurers.

Some insurers do bikes but only skim or cream the market and are not really interested in the returns on such a small market.

Gocompare, Moneysupermarket etc.

Good luck

And TPFT or TP are not now so lucrative as years ago. A decent Fully comp policy can be only 15-20% more than the cheaper restricted ones.
Make sure you volunteer I high excess and have datatool (et al), chains, locked garage to help reduce premiums.

I quite agree.
Look at Insurance as a community tax everyone pays into. (Although some pikey bastarts and Lithuanians don't) It is a kunt to have to fork out for but if the shyte hits the phan you get sorted without it hurting your pocket.
Next time if you want insurance they take a little bit more for their troubles.
And as mentioned, why pay for customer service when you don't need service? Smile

You need to phone around as many different insurance companies as possible. As in, get a copy of Bike Trader or MCN and call all the insurance companies that have adverts in the back of it.

What's cheapest for someone else won't necessarily be the cheapest for you, and that someone else might not have phoned around many companies so that person would be able to get it cheaper if they phoned around more.

Lots of companies have freephone numbers in their adverts, but for those that have premium 0870 numbers you can look them up on https://www.saynoto0870.com/ to find a alternative freephone number or a normal geographical number.
