A3 spec. Forget what marketing words are used, if it says A3 on the back I'll use it.

Semi-synthetic. Whatever viscosity the manufacturer states (10W30 for me as it's a CB500).

Usually use Motul 5100 10W40 for me.
Used it on the GPZ for a couple of years without any problems, and plan to continue using it for the Bandit Thumbs Up Wink

I would advise using at least a semi synthetic oil that is to the specification that your manufacturer recommends. Most four strokes like 10/30 BUT make sure by checking the spec for your bike.
You don't have to take my word for it though as I'm only an aircraft engineer so what do I know........I know not to use diesel oil though Rolling Eyes

The only modern bikes that I am aware of that use mineral oils are Harleys and Buells.

Use a semi synth unless its a high revving supersports bike like an R6 or something in which case I'd use fully synth.

Not really. Diesel oils have a higher detergent content and can be useful for cleaning engines up.

Most CG125s specified SE spec oil I think, and you will struggle to find such low spec oil still on sale. Late ones listed SG spec oil I think, which is still an obsolete standard.

On most bike engines I wouldn't worry too much about whether the oil is mineral or synthetic. Main advantage of synthetics is that they need changing less often (less additives required for a reasonable viscosity spread, and it is these additives rather than the oil that wear out), but many people change bike oil very regularly anyway.

One other area synthetics seem to cope well with is when subjected to large amounts of heat without any flow. Such as in a turbo when the engine is switched off. But not really a problem for many bikes.

All the best

Keith

many years ago we raced a classic nsu outfit on diesel oil, we got through 3 cranks before we used it and our reliability issues dissappeared after we started using diesel oil!

The main thing is to change oil regularly rather than buying the most expensive oil.
