 |
|
I know there are other threads about this but this is more specific. I need a new rear as mines done in, hoping for a sporty/touring type tire, that has decent grip any suggestions?
Going to get it sorted tomorrow.
Thanks in advance. ____________________ Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. |

Bridgestone is the way to go for me.
BT45's on the GPZ in the past... and more recently got a BT021 on the back of the Bandit.
[edit] I believe Bridgestone recently introduced a BT023 to eventually replace the 021??
Decent mileage without excessive wear, good grip in all weathers etc. I'm an all year round biker, and swear by them ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

Avon Storm 2 Ultra's
Running some on my ZX6R and they're great, better than the Bridgestone BT-021s I had on before.
Warm up really quick and excellent grip, wet or dry. ____________________ ZX6R F3 |

Well my advice is to go with whatever is on special offer. You've all got feedback from here, which is a bit subjective because people's own perceptions and requirement for tyres differ. That way you can decide whether what choice you have is the one for you and if it isn't, you can wait about 6 months (usual amount of time it takes for me to get the back squared off) and get a new set. The reason why I opted for the dunlop was because I was happy with the neutral profile and handling of the tyre - I had qualifiers on the ZX6R before the roadsmart and found the profile identical; grip in the wet, i.e. very good and confidence inspiring, except it lasted longer. Once you find a tyre that suits you, stick to it. I COULD decide to go for michelin's or pirelli's next, but very happy with the dunnies, and I suppose, what I don't know, wouldn't hurt.
Some people prefer pirellis, some avon, some dunlop, some bridgestone... It all takes time for a rider to get happy with they brand and choice of tyre and its a process of elimination. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

What Titz said
I would of gone for Roadsmarts over the Avons but they were like £30 - £40 more than the Avons fitted so I took a chance on the Avons as they were the newer Storm 2 model. ____________________ ZX6R F3 |

Tires Scmyers. It's all much of a much-ness.
Get a decent top range tire you can afford Michelin Dunlop Continental Metzler Bridgestone et al. I doubt if most Jossepi Bloggeri will notice too much difference in each brand.
Mid range performance is more or less the same. If you take a stop watch and circuit test tyres to the pedanth degree you will find one better than the next but then some trade off in wet use, high mileage, turn in etc could be expected.
I just changed from Metzlers to Continentals. Difference? Nada. Except £15 cost.
I have read bike forums up and down explain the whys and where fors but it is really down to personal choice. Tot nailed it earlier, Buy any decent tyre that is in a deal. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |
