Please.

Right I have an NSR125 it's a fox eye model and a Y reg. It's a gray import from France.

Heres a pic of how it sort of is now.

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/Bike.jpg

Right I finally have some money to be able to fix my bike. I also have money to be able to afford the insurance so woop woop all round. Only bad part is I desperatly need this doing before next wednesday because I have a job interview. So I have 6 days to sort it.

First off It needs a new right mirror and new indicators. I'm off to halfords now to sort that out. I'm only after quick fixes to get it all sorted for an MOT.

Things that uber worry me are.

The front mudguard was reversed into and has smashed at the end. I'm a little bit worried that this might make it fail the MOT. So my original thought was to just sand/saw the end down so it was smooth and they wouldn't notice.

The front that is broke.

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/Frontofguard.jpg

The side that is broke.

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/Brokeside.jpg

How it should look.

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/normalside.jpg

How the underside thats broken looks.

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/underneath.jpg

I took the guard off and noticed that at the bit where it screws to the forks on one side is smashed and looks like its already been bodged. It looks like somebody has heated it up and stabbed it with a screw driver on to create something to melt a cable tie to.

Next thing that worrys me is I have a leak. It seems to be coming from the sparkplug and I have seen bubbles coming from there. Does my spark plug need tightening. I am replacing it anyway.

I've mentioned this before but at about 5.5k to 6k revs the bike vibrates like mad. It's since it fell/was pushed over in the carpark. It's rideable but I don't want to ride it until I know what it is. I don't want to cause more damage to it. I've had suggestions that it could be a lose engine bolt or something. Any ideas.

Next thing is tyres. During the MOT do they just check the condition of the tyres or do they check the age. My tyres are about ten year old I think but they look to be in good condition. I just need them to pass the MOT and I can replace them after because new ones won't be here in time.

Next thing is I snapped my clutch cable. My cable was bodged and I have pictures for this but will it fail and where can I get a new one.

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/Cable.jpg

When it's passed the MOT and if I get that job I'm going to do my license. I just need this bike right now.

Cheers for the help in advance. I've wrote this quick because I have to walk up to halfords before it shuts and will upload the pics when I get back.

Bubbles from the spark plug??? That's a new one....is it made from Aero chocolate?

Vibration..... Related to engine speed or road speed? Does it do it at the same RPM in every gear?

Clutch cable: They have these establishments called "motorcycle shops".. sometimes they are called *dealerships*..

Hi

Plug might need tightening, or it might be a sign that plug has been in and out a lot (there is a crush washer as part of the plug to seal it). Would be inclined to suggest you just put a new one in.

Clutch cable you can just get from any bike shop. Or you can get cable repair kits (basically a new inner cable with some solderless nipples) from Hein Gericke which will do the job.

If you just want to bodge the mudguard up then get a some fibreglass and resin and use that (Halfords sell it). Cut off the jagged bits at the front of it and clean the edge up.

Vibration could be anything. Lose engine mount is possible. But as ZRX says is it engine speed or road speed related.

All the best

Keith

I'm going to change the plug just incase anyway but I'm hoping it is the crush washer.

The cable looks solid I'm just not sure if it will work due to the length, I'm going to give it a try tommorow if it doesn't I'll just look into getting one from somewhere quick.

The mudguard thing, if I was to sand it smooth and it looked normal would that pass the MOT even though its missing like 2CM's.

Vibration - It's rev specific as soon as you get to about 5500k it starts to vibrate I can feel it through the tank and the handle bars. As soon as you get past about 6500k revs it stops and the bike is normal again.

Cheers guys.

Sounds like its been dropped/kicked over lol...
If its road speed could it be something out of alignment? wheel maybehaps?
Engine speed, ohh, that cant be a good sign but it still runs Neutral

Will be very interested to hear where this goes incase my NSR gets knocked Neutral

Best regards

Sounds a bit like the balancing gears have packed up. If they are anything like the RS 125 they are made of a sort of plastic cheese.

It only started happening after it went over on it's side. I just assumed the engine mounting was broke or loose. I'm going to have to look tommorow and see if I can find any breaks/cracks.

It was parked in the carpark outside our old flat. I had been fighting with the flat above for a few days and ended up scrapping with them one night. They had been throwing eggs at my bike and everything. Got up the next day and the bike was over. Spoke to the reception to see if it was on tape but he said he was sure the wind had done it because it was up and then just after it was down and he didn't see anybody. They didn't have cctv pointing that way either. The exhaust hanger/ passenger footpeg snapped clean in half. Replaced that part and that was sorted but it means the exhaust took a battering.

Should be fine. It is required to brace the forks, but beyond that it should be fine. Just that it broken the tester might fail it for being sharp (ie, could cut pedestrians).

Lose engine mount would be possible. Other things would need to be internal to the engine, which seems a bit of a coincidence.

All the best

Cheers Kieth the photos have been added in the first post.

I'm hoping to try and get it MOT ready, if it fails I should have enough time to fix the problem and get it MOT'd again as soon as possible.

Are you sure about that, I've always thought you had to have one because as keith says it's needed to brace the forks.

Well today wasn't a good day.

Todays plan was to make the bike look like this.

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/Naked.jpg

I did it. Anyway.

I took my first petrol tank off today without any help. Yey go me.

Except maybe I should have got some help because this happened. Boo me.

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/Petrol.jpg

I tried the bodged clutch cable and it works great. So i'm happy with that. Couldn't find anything too bad. Until I found this.

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/Tyrecrack.jpg

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/Tyrecrack2.jpg

They are going to have to go. Sad

This doesn't look good either.

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/Sparkplug.jpg

Jacked it in and came home. I decided to have my tea aswell.

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/Sushi.jpg

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/Sushi2.jpg

Yummm Sushi.

Not going to get this done by tuesday sadly.

Update:

Right me and Hadies off here had a craic at it tonight.
I found that the radiator had a load of play on it and twisted side to side. I had a look behind it and the bottom mountings for it had come off the rubbers, one was sitting on the mounting peg and one was off it completely. We sorted that and it's now as solid as a rock.

Got the bike back together and filled with petrol and jumped it. Even with a dead battery it started first time with a jump and I took off. It feels awesome. Theres no vibrating any more so thats fixed. Also Hadies has sold me (well haven't paid yet) some newish tyres that look to be in awesome nick. So just gotta get them onto it and it's ready for an MOT.

Well happy.

I think it was the radiator yeah. I've done a quick blast on it (on private roads officer) and there's no vibration at all and it's feeling great. You can see on the frame where the radiator has been hitting it over and over again.

The radiator is attached to the bike by three points. A bolt at the top in the middle and then two hook type things.

https://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv345/carl_steveo/Radiator.jpg

Excuse the crap paint diagram. The hooks at the bottom on either side have circular rubbers in them that slide onto the mount pin things. The hooks then sit ontop of the circular rubbers. It's a tight fit though. I think when the bike went over its knocked the radiator off the mounts meaning to was all over the place.

I won't know properly untill I get a full run out through all the gears and speed etc etc.

Just so glad to nearly have it back. It looks weird though. It's just an NSR with a petrol tank and a seat. Theres nothing else on it but the clocks. I quite like it naked lol.

Just got to get the fairings and lights all hooked up. A new spark plug would be nice. Then the tyres need swapping over and then an MOT. Shit that reminds me I still have a smashed mirror. Sad

EDIT: I forgot aswell that even though my bodged clutch works fine i'm struggling to get it into neutral when stood still. Before it snapped neutral was easy to get into. It took me about 20 trys to get it into neutral the 2 times I had to today.

Haha exotic foreign foods!!!! It's from Tesco's mate I just have a sushi obsession lol

So could I do the MOT without mirrors or a front mudguard. Does the NSR mudguard brace the forks.

Patternparts.com is a website for parts for hotpoint kitchen appliances lol. The website is .net I think lol.

It's not a bracket it's just 2 holes in the side of the mudguard. But where the holes are has snapped off.

Either buy a new mudguard, or smooth it down and add massive washers to keep it in place for the MOT..

My CLR125 failed the mot for no mudguard.

The front is cracked but I can sand that down to a smooth curve. It's the side part where it mounts that I'm a little bit worried about. I could bodge it and probablys will. It's not noticeable from the side, I didn't even know it was there until I took it off. The mudguard was solid aswell because it only just fits in. Might have to do some plastic bodge today.

Right, I had the bike out for a few hours today. The noise/vibration is back. Figured out it doesn't happen all the time, it's worse when down gearing.

Also in neutral it doesn't make the noise. Kick it into first, on the spot with no throttle and lean the bike to one side it makes the noise.

The bike feels awesome, it pulls through every gear and the engine runs great.

Any help.
