One of y bikes appears to have a slow puncture, usually would ride it to the garage to fill it up but its so flat i can see it coming off the rim

now im on a tight budget and have seen a car foot pump at Halfords for £15 is this likely to take me an entire day to pump up or are they quite efficient?

Footpumps are ok and they work, a couple minutes pumping will work.

On me XT600 using a bicycle pump would also work, it got extremely hot though. If you can try get one of those things which has a screw fitting as the clip on ones tend to lose their air tight seal after a couple of months.

It'll do it no problem.

I use my hand operated floor standing bicycle pump to do all my tyres - including those on the cars.

Yeah it takes longer than a garage, but not crazy. It'll take me 2-3 mins to increase the pressure from 10 psi to 30 psi in my Clio tyre which has a slow puncture.

Good exercise too. Thumbs Up

I always use a foot pump, mine is a double barrelled one though. Probalbly 30 seconds to add 10psi.

I use one of those short double pump bicycle pumps, works a treat and only takes 70 pumps to put 15psi in my tyre (found out when I had a new tyre fitted they didn't put anywhere near enough in it! Rolling Eyes )

And yes, I am so anal that I count the pumps as I'm doing it. Makes it go faster! Laughing

If you have access to a car with a 12v power socket, buy an electric pump. It'll be cheaper.

I've always used foot pumps. It only takes me a few minutes to pump a tire using one.

Like said though, the cheaper ones bend at the 'chassis' if you're too heavy footed and the seal on the nozzle will fail.

I have the double barrelled version too. I bought one and it was shite. It would take a million pumps to put a couple of psi in the tyre. I threw it in the back of the garage and forgot about it.

Some months later I happened to look at the online reviews for the pump on Halfords site and was amazed to see an almost universal 5 star rating.

I dug mine out and tried again...

…Still shite.

So I went and bought a new one and it was great. Worked perfectly and puts loads of volume in really quickly.

I packaged up the shite one in the new box and used the receipt from the new one to claim a refund.

The connector is a very tight fit on the tyre valve and I routinely smash my knuckles on the brake disk while taking it off, but that’s a very minor complaint for an otherwise decent pump.
