Why?

It's either a write off or an Op Trident type bike and chances are the seller doesn't know it's true history or at least isn't telling it.

Worth less than £1000.

excuse me? i know the full history of the bike thank you.

was stolen and recovered. then turned into a trackbike. was used for a few years then sold to a police man who then used it for trackdays both in this country and abroad. im the third owner.

frame numkber was ground off but has had a new one stamped on by the police force ( as said the last owner was a policeman and got a collegue to do a full check on the bike)

reason i said i have no idea what its worth is because i payed £1800 for it which too me was a bargain.

Just re read the ad, I saw the V5 bit but didn't see the bit after that stating it can't go back on the road.

I'd say £1800 is decent money for it. Not quite as low as a grand though.

You are excused.

The only reason a bike with a log book can't be returned to the road is either if it is a write off with a write off notice by the Police rather than an insurance company or it has been used in crime especially gun crime so the Police don't want it returned to the road for fear someone will be shot on it.
The point that you have raised that it was owned by a former Police officer suggests the later and that it was removed before scrapping from a Police pound with the proviso it was never returned to the road.

If it was merely stolen then there is no reason it couldn't be returned to the road even with a re-stamped frame no. so somewhere you are not being totally honest or just don't know.

So now come up with a convincing reason why it can't be returned to the road?

the J2 ninja i had couldnt return to the road because of this:

https://www.thisiscornwall.co.uk/news/Biker-hit-elderly-woman-70mph-chase/article-750645-detail/article.html

but the frame numbers were intact. the breakers that sold me the bike ground the frame just to make sure.

so clearly its not just to do with gangs and guns mr. sickcock.

eitherway, i agree that 2-2.5k is a fucking stupid amount for an offroad b1h. maybe for a fully road legal one with 12 months tax and MOT.

i would say 1k is fair for that.

Why bring up the 2-2.5k valuation again ? I already said that I mis read the ad. With the V5 and road legal it would be worth that all day long.
