I was with a mate last night listening to the XX and he said they sound like house music/club stuff that is just played with a guitar and drum set.

I didn't notice this at first but it is true. Listen to Islands, night time and Crystalised and you can hear the original just slower and with a guitar rather than synths and stuff.

Don't worry... they've won the Mercury now so you'll never hear from them again. Anyone remember Mrs Dynamit-ee-ee...?

Heard them donkey's ago but as mentioned above (soft of) I don't think they've got any staying power. For me they're just "meh"

Their quite good imo, their album is one of my more favourable to listen to when I want to chill out after work..

I can't comment on the 'house music without the synths etc' comment, I don't see it personally.

Other than that, as long as their next album does well, I can't see a reason they cant win more awards.

I just heard the album your on about.. well one song, and i like it. I am pretty stoned like so music is sounding awesome but it's good anyway.

Thought you were on about a CBR XX rather than a band.

Mercury music prize is a load of rubbish.

They've had one album out, that has three good songs on it.

I was a bit disappointed not seeing Biffy Clyro win it. Having followed them since Blackened Sky, they've made some amazing music and progressed their sound so it is still retains their own 'signature' yet appeals to a wider audience.

The mercury prize seems to be about giving attention to upcoming new bands and artists. Many amount to nothing and don't have staying power, but it's a good way of getting people to listen to new music. If they hadn't got he prize i'd never have listened to them.
