I need to do the valve clearances on my YBR 125, but the manual calls for new O-Rings when putting the cylinder head covers back on.

Unfortunately the parts book only has a yamaha part number. Does anyone have anything to convert them. The part number is 93210-79801.

Presumably an o-rings an o-ring? Or do I need to look for a particular material?

you can usually get big sets with loads of sizes in them at lidle/aldi etc for a few quid.

Material isnt a massive issue as long as its not in contact with petrol (ie in your carburettor)

You don't need to replace the o-rings if you do the valve clearences, they'll probably last the lifetime of the bike if you don't over tighten them.

Regards

Yes I agree, and have gotten away with it the last couple of times although I have a spare set just in case. Just check they aren't damaged/perished at all and give them a thin covering of engine oil before you reassemble.

Will have a crack at it at the weekend.

How long would you guess to do it neil?

Also, did you get the yamaha or the renntec engine bars? Do the renntec ones get in the way of your feet?

I have the Yamaha bars and they don't get in the way.

Doesn't take long, say 1/2 an hour. The tappet covers are a pain for access with a torque wrench/sockets. I use crow-foot spanners on the torque wrench/breaker bar to get to them. You also need a deepish 8mm socket for getting the camshaft sprocket cover off. Also be careful when you undo the access caps with a screwdriver because the slots are easy to muller if you're not careful, especially the smaller plastic timing inspection cap (speaking from experience)! Use the widest screwdriver you can find - I actually use a small chizel, very carefully. Once inside, the locknuts are 8mm jobbies and you can use your fingers to adjust the clearences if you don't have the official tappet tool. Thumbs Up
