Kind of a re-post, sorry if this is naughty of me, but i wasnt sure.....

*** Anyone have any ideas as to where i could track some 2nd hand clocks down for my 2001 600 hornet, or if i should maybe go a different route, and go for digital ones instead?

Been trawling the net (ebay, private sites, hornet nest) etc., ringing up breakers (partfinderuk) for weeks with no luck.

i dont mind paying up to £160 for the original honda ones, 2nd hand of course.
however the digital ones may be cheaper and maybe better-more techy stuff/options etc. ?

...opinions very much welcomed!

Any help/advice/links massively appreciated!

cheers and rgds

ps. soon servicing it too, for first time! :S so in the words of arnie, "i'll be back"

2nd hand hornet clocks are like rocking horse shit because, as you've discovered, they explode into a million pieces at the slightest provocation (well, falling off anyway)

Do you know if clocks off an earlier model would fit? There's a Hornet being broken on ebay (tip - search for "Hornet Breaking" not clocks), might be worth an email

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/honda-hornet-600-1999-breaking-/250707478578?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item3a5f548832

Otherwise, there's a lot of people fitted Acewell or similar digital dash thingies to Hornets. Cost from about £80 to about £250 when I last looked into it.

thanks guys.

@Freshal
not sure if cb1 clocks will work, was looking into that the other night, still trying to confirm tho.
that said, i couldnt agree more on maybe getting tougher clocks, a good point indeed.
others have recomended vapor tech ones, but id prefer some with the old fashioned rev counter etc. like these
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280569724909&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_960wt_1139

just not sure which ones are compatible/best yet Smile

@cb1rocket
sounds like you might know tho, are you sure cb1 clocks will work with my model?
alot of fake kmph and hornet 250 ones on ebay so im being careful at the same time.
again, not sure if the 250cc ones will work either. :S

I could have sworn I read on the CB-1 forum (hubby has one) that the earlier Hornet clocks were the same as those on the CB-1 but having looked on there quickly can't find that reference now.

One thing I should have pointed out when I recommended them is that my Trail tech clocks don't have any lights to show me when the indicators are on, or when I'm in neutral which is a little annoying, especially since my replacement horn blocks out the back of left indicator so I have to stretch to check if it's on. Only a minor irritation but something to consider if you choose to go with aftermarket clocks.
