Help - Knocking sound after 7 months off the road?

I just put the carb back on the CB and it started 2nd kick

However, there is an awful knocking/tapping sound from the engine that I do not recall hearing when it was running before!!

I switched it off straight away and checked the oil level in a panic, which was fine.

Will it being stood for 7 months mean the oil is way down in the sump and needs a few minutes running to get to the top of the engine?

I really want to test ride on this glorious day, but daren't start it again until I know it's not going to cause any damage.

Take the plug lead off and wizz over the engine a few times to get the lubes a flowin..

then plug in and start her up
