What's the difference between a private torrent site and btjunkie?

BTjunkie is a torrent site indexer, it links to torrents on public sites and private sites.

Private sites require members to maintain a good upload to download ratio (usually 1:1). You have to seed things once you've downloaded them, but this means anything you're downloading will most likely have lots of seeders because everyone is trying to maintain a good ratio.

Private sites give you:

Faster downloads than on public sites (eg the pirate bay).
Better quality control of content so you can be sure that what you're downloading is what it says on the tin.
Better security as anti piracy groups seem to be more interested in torrents that are on big public sites because it's more profitable for the anti piracy peeps to go after a few thousand people on a public tracker rather than a few hundred people on a private tracker.
In general, releases are available on private sites before public sites.

When you make an account at a private site, you get 5-20gig buffer to download before their ratio rules are enforced. So you can just download 20gig without seeding back and then the account gets banned.

When your account is banned all that does is stops you connecting to the tracker, any torrents that you've got currently downloading will continue. So you can start up a very large number of torrents, once you've downloaded ~20gigs without seeding enough your account will be banned, but the hundreds of gigs you've got going will still successfully finish download.

If your account gets banned and you have to stop the torrent before it's complete them you'll be able to continue the download once you've made a new account.
