Hey,
So i'm gonig home this arvo for a few hours (need to use some tools and such from home) and running the bike in nutral i'v noticed that the servo under the tank does not move, even reving >9K and neetz nadda nout...

I'm thinking, either the servo doesn move when in neutral (which would kind of make sense) or its not moving period.

This would probly explain why i fill up after say 70-80 (getting into reserve by 80) miles.

Would it really have such a drastic effect on my fuel consumption having the valve open all the time? I sware i'm getting litterally bugger all in MPG!

When i get back i have a few little jobbies to do but will get the tank/airbox/carb out (find out if there is a plate in there for once and for all), get the servo off, check connection, free it up if the screw in there is stopping it moving and also have a general tinker about.

Will update in a few hours.

Best regards

-Jvr

hi,
afaik, the servo should move whatever gear your in.
i had the same issue just yesterday with my mito, turned out both the pv control boxes i had werent working, as it was doing its check when turning on the ignition but doing nothing when the bike was revved.
removed all the cables & tried a 3rd box & it worked.
my 1st thought was the blade & it turned out to be jammed in solid, took me ages to get it out & even longer to get the blade clean. (took the dremel & pink grinding stone to removed the thick layer of carbon)
dunno how much of this is relevant to your situation, but thought it may be of some use,
cheers,
GAZ

IRC the servo on an NSR will move when the bike gets to about 4500-5000 rpm (cant remember exactly, has been a while since I had one !).

It doesnt matter if the bikes in neutral or not.

I also vaguely remember that the servo moved when you turned the ignition on (like a self test).. but dont quote me on that Thumbs Up

Hey,
Yep, lots of joy here Smile
Had a spare one (on the spare engine i got with the bike), it wiggles, the bike rides a LOT better!
There isnt such a punch in the pants but the lower end is 110% better Very Happy
Hopefully my MPG wil top 30-40 now Very Happy

The cables were cut, think thats all that was wrong with it but i just plugged the new on in and tryed it out.

Any ideas why anyone would do that? there was certainly a stronger kick without it moving but the low end was cr*p lol.

Swish,
Have to say the difference between the bike is almost night and day, there is no kick in the pants instant bang in power where i have to role the throttle Back just to keep acceleration resonable.

But saying that, the low end has so much more grunt than it used to, the power seems to be spread a lot more evenly Smile

That mod may be good on the track (although initially pulling away wont be to good) but on the roads it just makes it awkward to ride Neutral

Hope this post helps others Smile

Cheers alains, will go over it again for sure1
