It is summer time and therefore people have their air-con on full blast in their cages. Thumbs Up

When at a set of lights - particularly where traffic has been a bit dense, it is fairly common to see a puddle or two under air-con cars when they pull off ...

So a bone dry hot sunny day, grip everywhere ... you approach a roundabout - with a green light - and just in the braking/turning zone you find yourself riding over big splodges of water!! Shocked

Has this caught anyone out?!!? Thinking

It is sealed, it is simply and accumulation of condensation - consequently pooling and falling off - the heat exchanger ....

Next time you are at some lights where people have been sitting a while (in a air-con car) take a gander! Wink

It is only like a cool beer/glass condensating on the outside and eventually leaving a puddle on the table ...

In this instance the glass being the pipework/heat exchanger where the air-con system is coldest ... the condensation will build up and eventually pool somewhere and then drip ...

Never seen it before.

Must be sat for a long time to condense enough for a puddle.

Nah air conditioning systems generally do leak water, my dad's hyundai he took it in to the dealers thinking it was leaking something.

In HK where taxis etc have air con on all day you can see pools of water at the taxi stands.

Around older buildings they are supposed to be routed to a drainage pipe, and legally they aren't allowed to let it leak. You walk around Jordan or Kwun Tong and there are so many condensing air conditioners it is like rain..

Coincidentally I'm fixing an air conditioner later today, they have a condensation tank and a heater inside to evaporate the water like fridges do sometimes, the heater is broken so I'm just hooking up perma siphon to it.

Nope, and never really seen/noticed it before.

Would assume there are much more important things to look out for, such as lorries and blind people.

I've seen it pooled adjacent to fuel pumps in the summer.
So I'm always careful on the brakes as I pull up, with diesel
spillage likely around.

Have seen it a lot, often when the motorway was at a standstill and people are getting out walking etc...

You'd have to be pretty unfortunate to crash from riding over one though, they aren't normally that big..

I has caught me out, only under different circumstances.

I used to own a Ford Mondeo a couple of years back and have big puddles under my car every so often. I spent fucking ages looking for a leaks from every possibly location under the car and couldn't find where the leaks were coming from. My fluid levels would remain the same. Never even gave the air conditioning a thought, until months later it was suggested to me by a mechanic - and thats what it turned out to be. Mad

My previous work cars had Air Con which I had to get regassed as not many people use it. Daft really as opening the windows uses similar amounts of fuel anyhow. You don't need it on recirculate either.

When working I used to sit in the car with the A/C on full when having lunch in a carpark. Plenty of times I used to get people coming upto me saying that I had a leak.

I did notice that it took a good 10 mins to get a proper puddle, not just a damp patch on the road though. After an hour, it becomes a stream if you're parked on an incline.

It is generally with slow moving traffic that has been stop-start up to the lights too ... I also guess the puddles might accumulate from several cars all dripping when at the same point ... Thinking
