Helmet Brands To Avoid?

Hi.

I am wanting to purchase a new full face helmet after I knackered my Caberg Justissimo flip front.

I am wanting to spend around 120 quid and I know that hein gericke are having the spend 160 quid and get 40 quid off thing for helmets not reduced.

I understand that fit is going to be the most important thing, but I am worried about noise levels and I want a quiet helmet. I wear earplugs but even with them I still get quite a bit of noise from the caberg.

I am going for a fixed chin bar this time rather than a flip front.

Are there any lids that I should stay away from in terms of windnoise?

Also, even with the 40 quid off deal do you think it's worth it compared to a cheaper shop like J and S for my pricerange?

I'd go for something like a shark if it fits properly Can't vouch for them in my experience but I know plenty of people who rate them highly

I only ever buy Arai (both on and off road) due to the fit.
BUT, they are very noisy (ear plugs are a must)

Arai or Shoei for me... all dependent on the fit though.

Shoeis have always been quieter than Arais and look a LOT more sleeker, but the Arais just look bling (especially corsairs with dark visors).

IF you can afford an XR1000, they might be discontinued but they are very good lids for the reduced price (£200 is a reasonable price for one).

If you're on a budget, HJC all the time for me! Their lids are packed with features, adequate venting and fit and finish is very good for the price. Look at the HQ1 or FG15's (ben spies races in the FG15 or at least DID until they released their new lid).

XR1000 is bearable. Arai Corsair is RIDICULOUS!

Earplugs will filter a substantial amount of the noise however in any case.

Everyone has different tolerence levels when it comes to noise, so this question is almost impossible to answer.
What's noisy to you, might be fairly quiet to me.
I have the Caberg like yours and wear earplugs like you do, and find it lovely and quiet.
If you're finding a lid noisy even with plugs in, you must have incredibly sensitive hearing.
Don't forget that there are other factors which detemin how much wind noise you will experience, not least of which is your bikes riding position and weather or not you have a fairing.
Some screens for example, can make the situation worse if they deflect the air stream into your face.
I have two bikes, one naked and one fitted with a screen and with the latter, I experience much more turbulence than with the naked bike.
The best answer for you might be to get some custom earplugs made.
There are companies that specialise in this and they are much more effective than the disposable one's.

My Arai is very noisy! Fits well and is comfy though!

I always tend to think that a higher rated and higher priced helmet is the way to go..
I know people will argue it will depend on the crash or usage but I only want the best on the market I can afford protecting my head.

On that basis I have only ever used Arai's and currently using a RX7 Corsair

If a large AGV GP Tech fits you properly then I have a mint condition black one that doesn't fit me going cheap - no damage, never dropped etc (can be verified by other BCF members), unused set of replacement cheek and head pads and tear off strips etc etc.

Basically I bought it on impulse when I passed last july, wore it for a few months/700miles then decided it didnt fit me properly so I bought a HJC FG-15. Shame because it cost me £400 and is fookin ace apart from the fit.

I now wear earplugs with my XR1000. Great lid but bastard noisy. Not sure I'd buy another tbh.
