Hey,
I have a Suzuki GS500e and the Rev Cable is shot. I have a new one but I also need the section that it connects to in the engine but have no idea what it's called, nor can i find what it's called on the net. The cable connects to a round chamber can anyone help me?
Cheers,

STOP,
Read this before continuing.
This can be a CUNT of a job.
Right what situation is the cable in ATM? Is it stuck in the engine with the head messed up and no way of getting it out?
If you can't get it out of the engine It may be worth giving up or seeing if you can replace the inside of the cable without removing the outer cable.
You can try to remove part 17 but be warned, it is fragile and can break leaving half of it in the engine, then you are in for a world of pain. Mine leaked oil out of it constantly leaving my right trouser leg constantly covered in oil and it was using a litre every few hundred miles.
Do not hit it with a hammer.
If you want to remove it try prizeing it out but be gentle.
Re-reading your post it seems like you are at this stage already look into where the rev cable goes, does it look like the part 17 has left half of it's self in the engine? Is it leaking oil?
If so gutted.
What you will have to do is removed the cam cover and the cam chain tensioner, and the cam chain and the cam, and the rev counter drive (lost the will to live yet) then attemt to knock it through from the other side, took me and my dad a good 4 hours to do this. Knocking it through is so difficult.
See the attached picture if looking at the engine if it looks like this and the inner ring is flush then you are fucked.
If it isn't leaking oil I would seriously consider not bothering with it.
The part is £19 from suzuki and the seals are about 70p each, ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

At the moment I still have some of the part 17 sticking out and it's not leaking oil but it has already broken. I have tried to prise it out but it is well and truly stuck.
I may just leave it as it sounds like it may just get worse if I fuck with it anymore.
Cheers for your help |
