Well the answer to that one depends on your long-term plans for the bike really...

Why don't you get a nice R6 instead?

Why dont you try to fix the ond one before you waste your money buying a new engine.

I've thought about this a lot, and talked to lots of people about it. Yes, it *could* work by doing lots of oil changes, and putting a new clutch in, or by doing a complete rebuild on it. However, for the cost of doing the latter there it's not worth it. The oil flush and new clutch fitted will possibly be done when I have the engine out the bike.

The main reason for going for a new engine over fixing that one, is it will be changing from a 24k quite worn engine, to a 4k one. THe current engine will be wanting lots of stuff doing in the near future, and its just not worth it IMO. Fit a new one, dismantle this one, clean it up, ebay the bits.

You still after an engine? I might know someone who is selling a low mileage G2 engine (which will fit), for £375ish, maybe a bit less...

Cheers for the info scoob, but a G model engine is a bit of hassle to fit. They do physically fit, but there are bits that then have to be swapped off my current engine. So a J model is a lot less hassle Smile

Could put an A1 model 636cc one straight in, but then I'd have to faff around with insurance and tax and stuff like that Sad

Ste,

This any good for you ....

Complete Zx6F engine from 9,000 mile old road bike all outer covers generator-starter-also comes with carbset-loom-coils-regulator-CDI-ideal for project??engine got its original number on!!

Found this on Ebay...... link below

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2436317423&category=10464

Or this one

KAWASAKI ZX6R / ZZR600 COMPLETE ENGINE

It came from a '93 ZX6R but I am sure they are the same from 90-94, please verify this for yourself.
It has done 14800 miles.
If there is anything I can check to help you identify it for your bike, please email me - happy to help.

I can ship it anywhere in the UK for £25 using my carriers, but you would have to collect it from the depot nearest to you. Almost certainly within 25 miles.

OK, just had an update from G, he says these are not going to fit ! Dam !
