Went out for a run on my new bike last night, and decided it would be a good idea to throw some of my stuff under the pillion seat, you know, keys, wallet, works phone... All was well until I went to get said guff out from the handy storage spot, and found that the phone was nowhere to be seen! I called it, and it has in fact slipped down under my seat, and no matter what I try, I cannot get a hand to it to even touch it, let alone grab it!
So basically, what I'm asking here is whether any of you learned folk know what the easiest way of getting the thing out? How much hassle is it to remove my seat, and even if I get it off, will it give me access to the void where my phone is?
The bike's a k8 gsxr 600, there's 2 dome-headed allen bolts either side of the seat, tried getting them off but no joy, didn't really fancy getting too far involved beyond that, as it's a new bike and I don't have a manual for it!
Cheers in advance guys. ____________________ McGee - "When I go to the mall and see all the high school girls, I have to have DO NOT TOUCH THE GIRLS written on my hand. Every time I go to grope I see it and stop."

The phone belongs to the bike now... move on .
I can't see the plastics being that hard to remove; a good excuse to buy a haynes if nothing else . |

possibly ??? maybe??? a slim bamboo stick with a blob of super-glue on the end......... and a VERY steady hand
i learnt the hard way like you and actully lost a phone once by putting it in what appeared to be underseat storage.
so now if i put "bits" in the tail/underseat storage, they all go into a bag.
that way they are to big to fall into all the nooks & crannies
hope that helps! failing that, it`s the disc cutter and angle grinder ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Glad to hear you got your phone back. I first thought of using one of these, then realised it wouldn't be effective with a phone (and could even potentially cause a phone some damage?)
Thankfully my Bandit has a couple of recessed "containers" under the seat, so secure storage hasn't been a problem. I still have the original toolkit under there, plus an allen key multi-tool, an adjustable spanner, and a small spare pack of bladed mini fuses ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N
