Name this PC game

I saw it in Asia quite a lot about a year back in far too many internet cafes.

Anyway it was sort of like left4dead 1-2 except you were the one playing some mutant monster thing, which had a massive sandbox type city thing where you would massacre civilians and occassionally get to fight tougher mutants.

I only ever saw it in glimpses but it was almost like spiderman type sandbox where humping off buildings hurt you only a bit and every so often you'd convulse and mutate a bit more.

Any ideas?

Prototype is an awesome game, might even reinstall it to play again, alot of playability and great fun!

Usually i hate sandbox games like GTA as they bore me quickly but prototype there was always something funny to do.

Ack, was about to buy but then read it has a ton of escort missions, I hate escort missions with a passion!

Escort missions as in basically trying to keep a guy with a death wish alive while you're being attacked from all angles? Yeah, they do my nut in.
