I'm touring in Austria this summer. I have a Sat Nav but want to get paper maps as a back up. We are going through France, Germany and Austria. I don't want to buy loads of maps of the route to austria just a european map big enough to fit under a tank bag. Any ideas?

Personally I would just buy the the Michelin Indestructible maps from services as I passed into each area. To have the same level of detail in a map book it would be feckin' huge as it needs to cover the whole of Europe.

Can't seem to get them in the UK, even Stanfords don't stock them.

The lowest scale you want to go to is the one country/map range, fold out type. Look at where you are going as they overlap a bit so you might get away with 2 maps.
Total europe maps are too big with not enough detail.

It's worth paying 50 cents more to get same maps labelled as the Incroyable(substitute relevant word for Indestructible here) maps, take folding better , don't get destroyed by leaky tankbags and are windy layby tear proof. Laughing
