|
The fan on my GFX card has given up the ghost.
Instead of buying a new card i was thinking about getting a new mobo + cpu
I have a PCI-E card here that i would use in the new rig.
I dont do much gaming so it doesnt need to be epic, uber and mega
Does need to be an Intel cpu.
Has to have 2 ide ports, for my 4 ide drives, and 4 sata ports. I have a pci sata card that i will be using too.
Got a budget of about 150 quid.
BCF What say you?

Any 965 board will do the job, but Abit boards tend to be premium ones designed for overclockers so they are pretty good.
Your old PCIE graphics card will work fine.
You'll have to buy a new CPU - get a core2 duo of some sort.
It has loads of SATA ports (8 i think) but only 1 ide port. so you'll only be able to use a maximum of 2 old PATA ide devices.
Your old PSU will be fine.
You will need to buy DDR2 RAM. You can usually get 4GB for around 40 - 45quid off ebay. Hynix DDR2 PC6400 is ok. Get 2x 2GB DDR2 dimms and go dual channel. |
