Sounds like the gears that connect it are worn or broken. Take it apart and see.

Otherwise just bump start it. Paddle it along in neutral to a fast walking speed and kick it into 1st and it should start.

It does sound more like the starter than the battery, i know a mates RS50 starter went when the bike was still quite low milage. It is however defiantly worth checking the battery before you go taking this appart as you might save yourself alot of work!

If the battery has low power then itll have trouble powering the starter motor, when the power flows through the starter solenoid to the starter motor it then consumes more power than the battery can continously put out (due to its weak state of charge) and the solenoid will rattle/vibrate/hum/clack etc due to loosing the power it needs to operate due to the power load on the battery caused by the start motor. Try putting your hand on the solenoid to feel for the vibrations when pressing the starter button, if you can feel it clacking away (youll hear it too) then you battery needs a charge, if when your battery is fully charged and it still does it, then the solenoid/starter may be at fault.

Are the thick wires connected to the starter getting hot quickly? If they are it indicates too much resistance at the connection point, ie if you negative starter wire got hot then the wire/connector could be corroded and thereby giving pour conductance. HTH
