Ear Plugs

I now wear them all the time as I do the same speeds commuting as I would on a weekend ride out.

Only ear plugs I use are the ipod ear phones and some rather loud music. Its a little hard to hear music at 100+ but quite embarrassing when filling up for petrol only to have a bit of Britney blaring out.

I have them in on motorways when my ipod has run out. I used to have them in all the time, but i since brought a decent full face helmet so i don't have to fight the wind as much.

Never wear them on the road. Off road I do, largely because my crossers tend to be extremely loud.

i used to use them

now i tell my self ill use them on longer rides...i never do

maybe if i actually have a plan e.g. drive 100 miles to a certain place.

If I'm just pottering around town, or have a short (less than 5 miles) commute, then no. If I'm going to be riding above 50mph for any sustained amount of time, then yes.

I voted yes as I wear them most of the time. I only started wearing them last week. Noisy XR1000 got the better of me.

I wear different plugs as I work in a PPE warehouse.

I started wearing them on my trip to Wales and I'm hooked.

If I don't have my sat nav ear phones in, I'll have ear plugs in. If I'm using the sat nav and about to hit the motorway, I'll pull over and pop the ear plugs in.

I couldn't live without them now.

With all the best intentions in the world, I still only tend to wear them on longer trips and/or motorway journeys.
I have some re-usable ones that I normally keep with me... plus a bag of assorted disposables that are still unopened and unused at home

I don't usually wear the ear plugs for my short commute, or for urban riding

I use the same ones that Flip posted up. Very comfy, and whilst they block out alot of noise, they don't make you compltely deaf. I tried some others that had an SNR of 39, didn't like those at all. Too big for my lug 'oles and I couldn' hear anything at all. With these ones I can still here the bike, and wind noise is very slight.

I find that without them I cruise at around 70~80mph. With them in I can happily whizz along at 80~120mph without any fuss or discomfort.

FWIW, take some advice. If ya don't want to be legally deaf like myself, WEAR EAR PLUGS.

I much prefer riding with my earplugs in but it takes ages to get them in properly because I have quite small ears. I use the disposable foam ones, don't really know if there are any slightly slimmer versions of them out there?

I only used the bike for commuting, and as a novice, I hadn't been going fast, and thought my helmet was fairly quiet.
However for the past couple of months, I've gone faster, found my helmet to be very noisy over 60mph, and am trialling foam ear plugs. They're not too bad.

Didn't like using my ipod (with isolating earplugs) though.

Always use earplugs if im doing anything other than town riding.

The wind noise otherwise makes it horrible to ride.

FWIW I now use them all the time since getting tinnitus a couple of years ago after 30 years of riding without them.

I always have worn ear plugs.

I even keep spares under the seat.

I find it awful without them in and at speeds it makes me feel ill.

FFS I even sleep with them in.

I never use them. Though my open face crash helmet which I wear some of the time has built in ear defenders.

I understand that the noise of your engine / exaust over time could damage your hearing, however doesn't wearing earplugs also stop you from hearing other road noise? Ambulance / police / fire engine sirens, cars hooting etc.
