Frankly, meh.
Had a go on the weekend, at a Kwak road show event. You rocks up, you slaps your [relatively clean] license down, you says what you wants to ride, and you, uh, ride it. Questions follow at the end of the ride though, be warned. Do your homework or the short skirted totty will spank you...
So me and a mate went over, he's got a T plate ZX6R, I've got a CRB600F (F-4). I took the 6R out first, he took a Z750. Then we swapped for the next rideout. Comparing notes afterwards, we agreed the Z felt like a learner bike, very eager to tip into corners and very docile up to the top of the rev range. But the main event was a little like a damp pissy squib. The 6R was fast enough, light enough and made some pretty cool noises, but it didn't grab either of us. I took a new CBR600RR out a few weeks back, and that thing howled and flip-flopped about like I was suddenly some bored looking Spanish UnoBrow. Seriously, lovely bike that was. I thought with more power, less weight, bigger brakes, and obviously that farking massive set of forks on it, the Kwak would blow me away. But no...
One thing I did notice about the Kwak though, was the brakes. Jesus H Tittyfucking Christ, they are awesome. Wait, no. They are A W E S O M E..... The ride home was fraught with me grabbing the lever and thinking in my haste to accelerate I had accidentally detached the lever from the brake line, or the calliper from the rest of the bike, or summit. Or nuffin. |
