My bike hasnt been used for almost 2 months now. But its started ok first time every few days.
Come last week i got alot of clicking noiseys (strange as it started fine 2 days before) - So i thought the solenoid had gone.
AA guy come out (locked keys in the car Embarassed ) But he stayed with me to get the bike started. He said the batt was sitting at 6v - when jumped fine it went to 12/13v.
He left i put bike back.... Went to start - dead again, it wants to 'fire up' but then loads of clicking noiseys again.
Tryed today, jumped from car - left running for 15 mins....Turn off / on - dead - clicking noiseys.
Just needs a charge or is it buggered Sad

I'd say put it on a slow charge over night, then see what happens.

The starter motor takes a massive amount of juice from the battery, if you only had it idling for 15 minutes then you might not have recharged it enough Thumbs Up

Charge it and see. Try to give it at least 24 hours. This means that the battery can charge, and then the charger can do clever things to recover lost capacity.

It would need to be ridden for hours to recharge it off the bike's charging system.

Sad to say it sounds like it is screwed.

My understanding is if the battery is reading less then 12V on standing it is screwed. It should read just over 12V from standing and when on a running bike should read between 12V - 13V. But try charging it, what's the worst that can happen?

Lol, it's not screwed because it's dropped below 12 volts, what you are thinking of is when you fully charge a battery and it still reads below 12 volts.

Your battery had dropped to 6volts and then you jump started it, it'll read 13.5-14 volts then because you're reading the output from the alternator not the battery's charge. 15 minutes as BillingTZR says is not long enough to recharge a battery that flat, it needs a good ride but preferably an overnight on a battery charger. Recharge it and it'll be fine. It's only when you let batteries drain right down to near zero volts several times that they become unrecoverable or unreliable.

In future don't leave a battery in a bike that is sat for so long, remove it at the least or keep it on trickle charge. Starting a bike that is stored every few days for a couple of mins will only further discharge the battery as you're not giving it enough time to put back what the starter motor took out.
