Hi All, my 1990 zephyr 750 has stood for two years, carbs were in terrible state. New needle valves, thorough clean, rebuilt pet cock and will run but if throttle opened bogs down and will only accelerate on light throttle. Have changed plugs and coils with no result. Feels like fuel starvation but have checked fuel coming from tank and petrol filter is clear.

HELPPPP!!!

Sounds like the moment you started it, rust from your tank got drawn into some of the jets. The fuel tank filter doesn't really stop this happening. Try cleaning out the carbs thoroughly again, fit a new inline filter into the fuel pipe and try running it again.

Hi

In addition to the above (and check for water in the carbs), also check the carb diaphragms. If these are punctured then the slides won't lift.

All the best

Keith
