Sorry if this is in the wrong section guys.

Just a quick question - is anyone aware of any bike insurance companies which can email the policy docs (to my local bike dealer) on the same day of purchasing?
I know it seems a bit rushed just wanted to do everything in a day due to heavy workload. If anyone could help that would be great

Thanks

ebike/swinton can email them/you can pick them up.

Best way is to get them to you and either fax or print them and take with you.

Saying that, i bought a bike and left the place without proving insurance AND having no tax..they forgot to do it Laughing

Okay thanks, so if I fill out + pay for my insurance online. They should be able to email the dealer within a few hours?

I would print them out myself but the dealer does no accept print outs. Only emails from insurance company + cover notes (can't wait 3-4 days for one of those!)

I will ask, but i have a feeling they will say they want a 6month/year cover note. But hey I can only ask! Very Happy
Failing that it will be the ebike or swinton option.

If anyone knows of any other insurers which do it, feel free to add Thumbs Up

If its insured..its insured.

Even for a day you ARE covered they should have no reason to hold the bike there, you could be buying it for someone else and only need insurance to get home.

All insurance companies should be willing to email or fax a cover note to the dealer.

There's no reason to restrict yourself to buying your insurance online, if you buy over the phone the insurance company should still be able to send a cover note to the dealer.

I would of thought so too - but apparently bennetts won't email and a few other companies i tried only send cover note via post :/

eBike are good, most of their documentation is email, so all you have to do is open your email at the dealership and show them your certificate. Jobsagoodun. Thumbs Up

Ah nice, do they email your policy doc as soon as you've paid for it then? I looked at their FAQ and it only said about posting cover note to dealer which can take 3 days

Hi,

I'm Mags from Bennetts.

Just a quick note to let you know that the legislation around issuing motor insurance certificates online or via email was amended from 30 April 2010. Up until this date insurance companies were not legally allowed to issue a motor insurance certificate electronically. The legislation amends the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Motor Vehicle (Third Party Risks) Regulations 1972.

At Bennetts we are in the process of putting this technology in place and should have it soon currently we issue certificates of insurance manually.

I hope this helps but if not, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Cheers

Mags
