Not without separate indicators, no. Integrated units, although often ignored by MOT bods, are technically illegal.

:edit: of course - having said that, I don't know anyone that's ever been done for having them.

I had them on my old bike. It passed it's MOT (was E marked too) but I do believe they are technically illegal. I was never pulled over though.

Indicators need to be a certain distance apart to pass an MOT, but I can't see many places actually enforcing that!

The ones I have seen on the road are very difficult to see especially during the day.

Not true. They do have to be a certain distance apart to be road legal, but it's not checked as part of an MOT.

As far as the MOT is concerned, they could be a failure due to the indicator interfering with the operation of the brake/tail light, but really it is a bit of a gray area. Personally, unless the guy presenting the bike was being an arse and I was looking for a reason to fail I'd pass it.

cheers for your input fellas. i was worried about the blocking of light from my brakes and also the actual visibility of the indicators. might give them a miss for now unless i decide to go all out on me fazer and start modding it up, for now its pretty standard, any good smaller indicators i should look for to replace the old ones? i.e. small but very bright or still highly visable makes? any reccomendations?

on the subject of visibility between the indicator under braking, a lot newer VW cars have two circular brake lights with an indicator in the centre as standard (Cant find a suitable picture). although it is hard to see the contrast between the two, it must be legal to contine to be manufactured

On spacing alone they do not comply with the UK lighting regulations, hence not being legal.

E marks are a bit dodgy. They could refer to something other than the lights suitability for the road.

All the best
