Ok, i had a look on the search function and found a couple of threads on the marushin helmets but there seem to be no actual comments from people who own them.

So, to that end, who owns one and what do you think of them, recommended or avoid like the plague, i'm looking at getting this one

If buying online check the returns policy.

I mention this as the first rule of buying a helmet is try it on.
If you can't try if on then there's no point in buying it IMO.

Frank Thomas appears to be the UK distributor.
Might be worth phoning local stockist to see if they sell and you can try first.

It's well documented, both on here and other places, that the fit does vary from manufacturer to manufacturer for a given/stated size.
On some helmets the design is such that you need the right shaped head.
On others, if you wear spectacles (or intend to wear sunglasses*), it can further limit the choices available.

HTH Thumbs Up

* the possible safety implication of wearing glasses is another topic.

Cheers for that map, i've already tried the lid as the northwich store of j&s isn't far from me, fit and everything is fine, (even when i wear my specs). I was after some info on what they're like to live with, whether the lining gets loose etc etc, how they hold up in an off,

Hi,

I've got the exact same helmet as the one you are looking at (but in gloss instead of that nice matt effect!). Had it about a year now and I can't fault it. It is comfortable, easy to get on & off and it keeps the rain out!! What more could you want?! Smile

I like the fact that they have quite an unusual design too - nowhere near as common as the Shoei and Arai lids you see everywhere.

Thumbs Up

They are great, I have the same one but with the Kintaro graphics, I think I got it for £65 on sale from infinity. The only thing I would say is that they can scratch a little easy but apart from that all good Thumbs Up

If I was to change I'd buy another Marushin Laughing

iv'e got the shivan dragon and i like it far more than my shark s500 helmet. the shark helmet scatched or paint flaked off and weighed so much more.

probobly buy another one to match my new leathers and since i came off my work scooter a while ago think it'd be safer to get a new one.

as for the matte helmets scratching iv'e mot noticed any scratches on mine so far and iv'e used it for a year and use it daily.

go try one on before you buy of course.

My wife and I both have Kintaro models. Mine is my spare now (main helmet is a Caberg V2R), but did many miles and is actually a better fit than the Caberg. The only part I can fault is that you have to be careful removing the visor - the small lugs on the visor break easily.
Otherwise, highly recommended Thumbs Up

Old thread, new review;

Had a red marushin tiger about a year now and I can't fault it. It still is in "as new" condition and I usually don't give a shit to my gear.
Totally waterproof, looks good, cheap, not noisy(I have a big screen), light as a shoei, comfy.
What more could I want? Probably nothing.

Marushin is a pile of wank.

Do yourself a favour and get yourself a cheaper model shark.

Lad at work has a marushin helmet, and it has started leaking in water as the visor does not sit correctly, it looks very nice though

Cheesy build quality, bits seem to fall off them, had a lad wreck on one whilst mini motoing and the straps actually snapped.

dangerous.

I bought a Marushin Daisho last year very cheap, discounted from £120 IIRC.

It's very draughty, so much so that I've fitted a neoprene draught excluder around the bottom. Fitting this has revealed that the vents are for show only, so the visor needs to be open a crack in the summer to keep cool.

I could live with this, except that it's f*cking lethal when it rains!

When I open the visor a crack for ventilation around town, rain water pours down the inside of the visor, causing massive fogging. The combination of rivers of rain and fogging make it virtually impossible to see where I'm going.

I've contacted the shop where I bought it, who have in turn contacted their Marushin rep. I'm waiting to hear back from them.

Has anyone else experienced this serious safety issue?

I know this is an old topic being dragged up and the OP has probably already got a helmet sorted, but worth mentioning that this is a 5 Star helmet according to the new sharp tests.

That makes it top-rate at saving your head and one of the cheaper helmets on the market!

Thumbs Up
