Bus lane cameras

OK, going up the Uxbridge road earlier, hoping in and out of the bus lanes. Was half way up one in Southall when I noticed the sign didn't have a motorcycle on the sign and right underneath it was a 'Bus lane cameras active' sign. I have never thought to look at them until now. I am a cyclist, I don't normally need to check, did not occur to me motorcycles are not allowed in some but are allowed in others.

If I have been snapped in a bus lane when I shouldn't have been in it, how long is the wait to find out? Does it put points on the licence as well or is it just some sorta fine?

Ealing borough allows M/Cs in all its bus lanes, so as long as you were between Acton and Southall you're fine.

In any event, it's just a fine, as it's been decriminalised so that councils can make money out of it - like most minor naughties involving ignoring road signs have.

More importantly, what the frakk were you doing riding a bike in/near Southall, it's lethal down there!

Arf, it was the signs between Southall and Hayes that are missing a motorcycle. I was going to Get Bike in Ealing from Hillingdon to get some waterproof gloves after spending a week commuting with soggy leather ones.

Southall is not to bad as long as you stick to the Uxbridge road. Thumbs Up

I normally do the Uxbridge road at speed in a diesel Astra; I wouldn't say it was particularly safe - especially after the number of RTC's I've attended on it! One of the first motorcycle accidents I went to was a colleague on his way back from work in central London.

Ealing isn't a very safe borough for motorcyclists (or pedestrians) due to the number of shit/illegal/shit&illegal drivers, so stay frosty!

Hmm... Guess your right... I have been doing these roads by bicycle for 14+ years so maybe the perceived danger or something is lowered... I am surprised by the amount of accidents that happen the Uxbridge end. Especially at the top of the hill on that long corner where the church is opposite the parade of shops.
