so, just got my Suzi back from having its MOT and the odd repair, unfortunately, I couldn't ride it back home cos I haven't done my CBT yet so my Brother rode it back for me!!! Damn him!

Only about two weels til I can get to do the CBT and should also be able to sort out insurance/tax etc so yay - I can finally get out on it after having it stuck in the back garden for 3 months!!

CAN'T WAIT!! Soooo nervous, not about the CBT but just about getting on the bike. I've wanted one for so long and now I've finally got one it doesn't seem real.

Also, anyone seen the LIDL brochure for the weeks starting 21st?? It's got Helmets, boots and clothing in there.

Seems like good stuff, going to get me helmet and, if they fit, a pair of boots.....let you all know what they are like

Bet you can't wait, there's nothing like the feeling of being able to go out where you want/when you want.

I don't want to sound old, but take it easy when your on the road accidents are far too easy on a bike and sometimes you don't get a second chance. Also don't buy a cheap helmet, you can't put a price on your head, I know I value mine a dam site more than a cheap lidl helmet.

Get your insurance and tax now then get your brother to ride the bike to the cbt center and take the cbt on your own bike. That way you can learn the u turns and manoeuvres on something you will be constantly riding. Will also enable you to be riding straight from the cbt center when you pass. Thumbs Up

The lidl gear is great for getting what you need cheaply and the quality is pretty good.
Make sure to get an armor jacket and pants and gloves.

Also don't buy a cheap helmet... Ignore this ..

All helmets are tested to the same standard. All your really paying for getting a 300 quid name brand is higher quality vents/visors/liners and there name on the side. Your better off figuring out what budget you have to play with and going and trying a few lids on untill you find what you like and feels good. I use a box biohazard which cost £80 fits me better than some of the more expensive branded lids. It all depends on the shape of you head Mr. Green

lidl & aldi usually do some decent stuff, & i know their tools are good because i've bought a few, but never bought any of their bike gear.
though i did buy a pair of the gloves, which i have hardly worn, as they are a lined, winter glove & i prefer my leather ones, but they are quite decent for the price. (dunno how long they would last if used daily though)
last time they had their offer on at lidl, i had a good look at their stuff & from what i could see the textyle jacket & trousers were very good quality, if a bit pricey. (but there was a lot of nice touches on them, not usually seen on budget items)
60 quid for the jacket & same for the trousers iirc, you can get branded stuff for the same sort of prices from the likes of these guys

as for the boots, i have heard from a couple of people they werent up to much, so might be better off looking elsewhere, you can get plain black boots from 40 quid upwards or a bit more for the sport/race type.
as for the helmets, dearer does NOT mean safer, as one of the bike mags recently proved.
the safest helmet out of 5 or 6 compared, was the safest.
fit is everything on as helmet,imo.
