Hey,
So i have a spare NSR engine i want to get back into shape as a backup for my... NSR lol.

Been stripping it down as its been sat in a garden in a bin bag for a fair while and after gently persuading the top end off with a mallet and the left hand casing tooo...

Now I have a whole new world of hassle trying to get the left hand side off Neutral

All bolts un fastened etc and whacking a piece of toothbrush & a mallet (so as not to damage the metal) and its not budged a millimeter Neutral

The engine seems to be in fairly good nick, piston roller bearing in great shape, engine turns freely, gears feel fine but there are what look like spots of surface rust on the gear behind the flywheel although a little wire brushing and its gone not even leaving a mark?!

The crank has some rust on it to which is why i want to split the engine and clean it all up.

Any advice on actually splitting the engine and what else i should look for (aside checking bearings and seals) would be fantastic Smile

Best regards

Selector forks, selector barrel, gear teeth wear.

Make sure you've removed the flywheel, clutch etc and any locking tabs.

Hey,
Well, after that whole post, the case came off without to much trouble really, just needed to be whackin it a little more wth the mallet haha.
Came off, looks absoloutly georgus in there, mint!

Put that side back on as i dont want to mess around in there so pulling my attention back to the other side and the fly wheel.

All i really want to do is get in there and clear out the sludge/crap and check it over before thinking about firing up the engine.

Sooo.
