David Cameron's bitch would like to know which current laws would you like to remove or change because they restrict your civil liberties, and which offences do you think we should remove or change, and why?

It might be the conspiracy theorist in me, but I can't help but think they take all the ideas, and then find ways to actually enforce them rather than act to preserve the liberties of the people.... it's like saying "how can we remove your freedoms more?" in a subtle way.

Obviously, the ridiculously low speed limits in most areas

the banning of most drugs

emissions and noise levels

etc

all the good stuff Laughing

Ah, but some ideas will be listened to so present your suggestions in a way that will appeal to the Tories.

Things to get rid of:
Digital Economy Act
Fox hunting ban
Drug prohibition
Inheritance tax
Smoking ban, handgun ban, the ban on using mobiles whilst driving

Also, the economy would benefit from The Bald Eagle and his mates being sent to Guantanamo Bay. Thumbs Up

Human rights act needs to be rewritten or scrapped, its abused by those who know how to work the system and fails those that it should actually apply to.

Another couple to throw in the pot:

Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 (and criminlise membership of the Ramblers association whilst your at it)

Legalise prostitution - provides a safer environment for all parties involved

Scrap Vehicle excise duty & SORN - as Kickstart said, chuck the duty on top the price of fuel, makes road pricing fair & simple and difficult to evade (short of driving off with out paying)

Change the human rights act to the Human rights & responsibilities act - how is it that prisoners have more protection than our soldiers?

The Terrorism Act - there was little to no need for it before hand with the Irish problems, it just gives the authorites an avenue for abuse (for example the local police force is a great fan of using the terrorism act to conduct random stop & searches)

Regulation of Investigatory Powers - it's just too easy for local councils to abuse it, why the hell should they be allowed to use this power to covertly check to make sure I'm putting aluminium cans in the right bin etc..

On a seperate note, how slow is that website

https://www.politics.co.uk/news/legal-and-constitutional/govt-stop-and-search-appeal-rejected-$21381052.htm

S44 powers of search under anti terrorism laws (i.e. no excuse and no right to complain when it is used illegaly) is dead and buried!

hurrah!

S43 however still exists... Sad

All of these but keep the smoking ban. Who wants to come home from the pub smelling like an ashtray?

An interesting way to re-market the smoking ban would be to give pubs the choice and if a pub chooses to be a no smoking pub then they would be entitled to a lower rate of alcohol duty compared to pubs that allowed smoking.

Give people an incentive and then let them make their own decisions. I think that if no smoking pubs had cheaper drinks then the no smoking pubs would be popular.

I've found a problem with that ste. That is a sensible and logical scheme.......

.... therefore by default it won't be done.
