hey guys, my friends bought a horrible 50cc scooter, its been stored for a year and after riding it there's a problem with it now.

basically, the scoot cut out and refused to start then fuel started leaking from the intake on the carb. so im thinking the float might be jammed open in the carb and flooding the engine? there's a lot of fuel and there isn't any pipes leaking. its definitely coming from inside the carb. its probably knackered the plug too.. anyone have any suggestions on what it most likely is?

im going down to look at it again tomorrow with my tools.

Strip the carb down and clean it completely. 2 Stroke carbs will slowly get dirty, mine started to leak out the overflow during idle, and once the bike was off for a bit.

Cleaning carb is first thing. Buy some carb cleaner and spray it EVERYWHERE (I think carb cleaner goes everywhere, but normal cleaners cant go through centre...?) Once thats done, you can see whats not working in the carb if anything isn't.

Cheers for that

well its a 4 stroke, but same applies pretty much, im hoping its a quick fix i dont wanna spend all day on it. all i know is when i first saw it, it was leaking fast. overflow might have been leaking too.

I wouldn't want to 100% go to town with the carb cleaner, but a quick google of cleaning 4 stroke carb or something should suffice. Its an hour job depending on how hard it is to get the carb out.

Remember to crimp the fuel line! Laughing
