Posted: 12:59 - 27 Jun 2010 Post subject: Wheel bearing problem... |
|
|
The bike is a cpi50sm.
Just fitted some new rear wheel bearings and they literally just slotted into place by hand The old one actually fell out when i removed he wheel!
This is just on the sprocket side btw.So what's my options?
Is it possible to have the wheel machined out then fit a bearing with a bigger outer diamater to match or should i just look for a replacement wheel?
Thanks

Chinese bike? Sounds about right!
Loctite!
They do a number of compounds for screw & nut locking, pretty sure there is one for bearings too.
Remove brg, give it a squib of loctite around the rim, pop it back in.
anearobic adhesive will set and keep it from rotating in the housing, spacers on spenidle and the nuts should keep it in axially. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Cheers for the reply's.
Supermono - I was a bit unsure about trying your method as it sounds a bit pikey, but even the local bike garage advised me to do that aswell (using loctite aswell) so it's worth a shot
Getting a price on a new wheel aswell though just incase (i'm not paying so it's all good )
Cheers
