Hey

Not really used an FI bike before.

Looking at prices, I can get a K&N for the same price as a standard air filter...any problems with using this? Obviously with carbs you had to rejet and pretty much set it to run properly.
How does FI sort this? need a remap or is it just "auto" like my car?

Also things like exhaust changed etc...how simple is it with FI bikes, regarding sensors etc

I presume you mean the Daytona 600. I have the TT600 and while they are almost he same bike the fuel injection is different in the Daytona to the TT600.

I have a K&N air filter fitted to my TT600. As far as I know the bike has a C/O(?) sensor that can adjust the fuelling to match a K&N. Although if you also have an after-market exhaust on there you will need to get it remapped.

Triumph dealers have a Triumph race can map that they can load up for half and hour of labour costs. Or get a PCIII and use the internet maps.

Not sure on your bike but on mine if you have 'open' cans and open air box you have to have the ECU re set. If you have just cans or just an air filter it should be fine

at the moment ive got a carbon company can on there and propbably putting the standard filter in, just thought of any advantage to the k&n and if it was do-able.

another quick one, how igh should my temp gauge be? the display is reading 104 when im sitting in traffic or around 90-95 on the motorway sometimes going down to 87ish..

sound alright?

That Triumph runs a 'closed loop' system, it wont alter the fuelling by itself.
The best thing to do is get the Triumph tune downloaded by a dealer or use a power commander/tuneboy.

It will run a little leaner with a k+n and a loud pipe, but it shouldnt do any damage i would have thought.

And yes, they do run hot, my Speed Four used to get upto 107c sometimes in traffic Shocked

This is about the hottest it will be all year though. Yesterday I remember your bike hitting the 80's very, very quickly in slow traffic (and was still climbing but I didn't have another look). As it cools down you won't have to worry so much I guess.

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

Closed-loop means it will adjust on the fly, you mean open-loop.

You cannot rely on putting a free-flowing air filter and/or exhaust to make a FI bike run lean. My bike was running rich as a result and had to have fuel taken out in the midrange.

My S4 hit 116 once and will hit 112 with ease in traffic.

I have been running it with an open can and k&n filters for years with no problems.

Hi

Whether a K&N makes enough difference is one question. Some vehicles will use the feedback from the lambda probe to adjust the fueling, but also quite possible that it only takes any notice of the lambda probe on smaller throttle openings / lower revs and at other times it just switches to a settings.

All the best

Keith

OK, i feel alot less anxious about my temp gauge now... Laughing

Thanks for the info on filters/fuelling etc, i think i'll leave the standard filter in and ive got a carbon can co stainless can on the end, but standard pipes, so i'll just stick to the servicing intervals and hope it lasts Laughing
