Hi guys

Recently passed CBT, and hopefully get my first bike on Friday. Meant to do it about 18 months ago and never got round to it :/

Only question at the moment, do I nod at other bikers or am I not allowed until I lose L plates Neutral

You're ok, as long as you have the "N" entitlement on the back of your licence.

All comes down to what bike you get.

Cruiser type - Nodding is a no no, its a sign of weakness.
Sports bike - You can nod but be prepared to U turn, chase down, and seriously stare at anyone that doesn't return the nod.
'Ped - Do what you like, no one is going to acknowledge you in any way or form.
Other geared learner bikes - not so much as a nod, more a bow to show respect to the big boys with full licences.

True, if you're on a Chinese bike you must avert your eyes by staring at your tank until the other bike has passed.

And you have to wait excitedly for the lights to change.
