Was out for a ride just now, was in fourth just and the bike felt like it had slipped into neutral (revs went up and now power) rolled off of the throttle and back on again and it was fine

anyone got any ideas?

It could have slipped into a false neutral when you applied the revs, then fell back into gear when you let off again?
Or it could be the gear teeth worn.

Just a false neutral, nothing to worry about. Common problem. Change the oil, might help a bit.

Ok cheers sounds nothing to worry about

Would change the oil but the thing is its a hire bike which I've had for around 3 months now got it at around 500 miles and put about 1000 miles on it so I'm not sure if it would have had its first service yet so may be on the original oil and be grinding its self away slowly. Plus all the nuts and bolts have got yellow markings on, guessing that will be to stop me undoing and changing anything so cant really do an oil change

It should have had it's first service and oil change at 600 miles, or 500, which is close enough, from whoever is hiring the bike to you. But my YBR has dropped a gear once in a while, especially if I upshift without pulling the clutch in. I change the oil every 2'000 miles. To give you some perspective, I've had the bike since 500 miles and I've put over 28'000 miles on it in the last 2 and a half years.
