New member- need new tyres

Hi there everyone my name is Mike and ive recently joined in here.
I want to quickly say a few things etc I basically joined for 2 reasons (originaly 1 ) that is my friend is a biker but i,m not and i joined 'for him' . I,m always on the pc n a member of some popular forums already so it just happened like that. Secondly im just getting into detailing, i,ll be asking about that soon!

Anyways i spoke to my pal Simon and he needs both tyres changing on the bike . Its a mint condition 600 Bandit 1996 roughly 8k on the clock.
He wanted to know a rough guide on prices for tyres and what to go for, i dont think he,s got an unlimited budget but he also will want quality .
Any suggestions on whats good and what to steer away from if any??and is there a good supplier nearby? Southend, essex here. Also whilst talking about this, what advice is recomended when the tyres are on and fresh? What is good practice , i recall along time ago chatting about tyres with a biker, he said you need to go easy for certain amount of time? can anyone suggest the best proffesional advice?
Si has only been riding for around 18 months , were in urban area mostly i,d say . He rides sensibily , towards progressively . Not mad.

Previous: BT045s - Feel very planted, really good grip in the wet and dry. As they're quite soft tend to wear more quickly.

Current: BT021s - Ok, not as confidence inspiring as the 45s, but do the job and pretty long lasting. Don't trust them too much in the wet, though tbh.

Next: Michelin Pilot 2s - Not tried myself yet, but always seem to have very good reviews all round.

Edit; I should add that a lot depends on what you want from them of course. More grip, or longer lasting, better in the wet or the dry, etc etc. Supply that info as well and I'm sure you'll get more (knowledgable) responses

I just got a new set of tyres on my bike - I took the wheels and got the tyres fitted to them so hadn't ridden the bike at all.
Rode to the garage a mile away last night; cold and wet and under 40mph. On my road it just slid every time I used the front brake. By the time I got to the garage, the same action did a stoppie. Of course this had only scrubbed in the centre of the tyre, not the edges.

The trick to scrubbing in tyres isn't to set a distance (a lot of places say '100 miles' as an easy caveat) but to make sure you only using a little more of the tyre at a time - so lean a little more each time rather than doing 100 miles upright then going for it.

If it was for fun mostly, then I'm really likely the tyres I just got; Diablo Corsa III. Though won't last a massive amount of time (but 8k on a 14 year old bike suggests lasting loads of miles isn't a big issue.)
Good grip in the wet and very very good in the dry. I paid £200 fitted to loose wheels.
