Bike got nicked outside the house and then the police found it with the ignition totaled and the wires ripped off the ignition. I now have a problem. The wires that came off the igntion switch number 3, one red, one blue with an orange tracer and one red with a black tracer. I have done some checking and all the ignition switches that I have been able to source have six cables.

I could do a number of things.

a. Leave the current ignition switch in and hope that it will work OK but have no steering lock and try and figure out how it was wired with the three wires.

b.Replace the igntion switch and try and figure out what the spare three wires are for. Probably a pretty slim option as I have no idea what I am doing (£50).

c. Get a replacement from Fowlers in Bristol (£150) and hope that it has only 3 wires. They have none in stock at the moment to confirm that it will be a three wire ignition.

Has anybody got a wiring diagram for a CB400 SF import or has anybody had any experience of doing this job. At the moment I am stuck and may need to go down the insurance route as this is already costing me a fortune.

Cheers

Is your bike a V-Tec SF?

Don't know, how do i find out.

Thanks for the pic but I have that manual as well and well I too don't seem to be able to decipher it. Perhaps a Babel fish in the ear might help.

At the end of the day the bikes only worth £600 so what toe rag would want to steal it. I dont' have the time or money to deal with this s*****. (end or rant)

Thanks for your hellp

May or may not be helpful but ive been fannying about with my c90's ignition as that was knackered and the ignition switch has more wires going into the connector block (8 wires) than the wires coming out of the loom (5 wires). So theres a possibility that you dont always need all the wires.
