iphone 3G home button not working

I've been given a 3G which was working just had a cracked digitizer & cracked rear cover. Got a new front & back for it & spent a while fitting, just as i got to the last home straight the glass cracked on the digitizer. Hardly put any pressure on it so i'm guessing it's because it was a ebay jobbie.

Now the home button does not work. Not sure if it has anything to do with a cracked screen, i can't see that being the problem. It worked a few hours before when i had the original screen on.

Any ideas?

never had one so dont know if the digitizer crack is relevant to the fault (i doubt it though) but id take it apart again and make sure it goes back together properly. either something else has broken or has not been refitted correctly in my experience.
