Saw this posted up on a photographers site, it's unbelievable how at one point they tell him he can't take pictures of cadets because he has to ask permission from their parents.
What is the point of parading in a public place if they aren't supposed to be looked at.

Basically in a public place you can take pictures of what or who you like but there seems to be a strong presumption that somehow you must be in the wrong if they don't like it.

I've read people's comments on other forums and it sounds like the rozzers were total dicks too.

If the kid sues like he says he wants to, he'll get a few grand (more than the incident really merits) and the officer will get disciplined - it's not exactly Rodney King is it?

To be fair Spitfire, if you look at his blog he is a bit of a pretentious anti-establishment wanna be photog. He was also very annoying, and had a very whiny voice.

Police DON'T need a law to take your details down, and they told him that. He's not obliged to give them - although from the 20 seconds I could stomach listening to it sounded like he'd given them some ID.

There's no doubt (from what other people say after watching the vid) the police DID overstep the mark - that doesn't make him any less of an annoying twat, even if he was right in this instance.

At the end of the day mister james it doesn't matter if he is a annoying twat or not. The cops didn't have a leg to stand on, tried to bully him into leaving and fair play to him he stood up to them. The cops should of just left him alone after asking him politely the once.

I admit its probably very hard for the police to know everything but if they don't know the law, they shouldn't start running there mouth and making shit up. Its exactly this kind of stuff that turns people against the police unfortunately.
