Whining noise

Rode to work this morning and noticed a whining noise from the bike.

It's just had a new chain, related?

I'm thinking wheel bearing?

Any thoughts? Couldn't tell if it was front or rear.

I wouldn't expect a whining noise from a bearing, but if you've had the wheel out this is likely the source somehwhere.
Chain definitely not too tight? - check when you are on it as it tightens when the suspension goes down (I lay over the bike which looks funny but works).
Is it possible to overtighten the spindle?

CBRs often have whiney clutch baskets, where is the noise coming from?

Just when moving or when revving in neutral/clutch pulled in as well?

It was all the time whilst moving mate, clutch in or not

Maybe it's the turbo?

Uhh, whining noise could be a lot of things....

It could be the cooling fan bearing on it's way out... Does it do it when cold?

Also try the rear sprocket carrier... No more than a tenner to replace, and known for making all sorts of wierd noises.

Whining while moving sounds like a dry bearing to me.

how tightly have you got the chain? In noticed a whining noise coming from the rear end after adjusting the chain on my bike a while ago, slackened off a TINY bit more and it was gone soyou could try slackening your chain a touch and see if that helps?

It wasn't the missus but I did try curing it by treating the situation the same... punching the bike didn't work.

Does it any temperature.

It's as it was Chris, it's noticable enough that I don't think it's the wax.

Will try slackening off the chain slightly, but it seems to be about right.

Chain did nothing.

Defo whining

Only noticable at 40+, increases in noise as speed increases.

Noise when front brake applied fully, 1/2 and not at all doesn't change (except for the speed change of the bike)

Doesn't make a difference, can hear the noise more though dur to the engine revs dropping

This may sound stupid but are you sure its not a cable rubbing on the front wheel?

It's coming from the front and it's louder (Probably just easier to hear) when the revs have dropped off.
