Just purchased an XS650 its an XS 1, going back to 1971

It has a Vin Number, and engine number, but i didnt have a logbook or numberplate, I wasnt too fussed because i was just gonna strip it for parts but its too nice to strip so i want to register it on the road

But a logbook application form states i NEED! the reg plate,

and all HPI checks seem to need the Reg plate aswell

How can i go about getting a logbook if all i have is the engine number and the VIN number?

Contact a yamaha dealer, as they may be able to get the reg number that it was issued with Thumbs Up

Take a look at the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club https://www.vjmc.com/

It does cost £30 to join but it seems the easiest way to get an age related plate.

Give yodi a try he helped me tons.
Just type yodi in the search bar.
He can run a check on vin numbers and if it has been redgistered in the uk he can get the number for you.
Costs £20 but worth every penny.
