Just wondered if anyone knew of any good online sites that have decent but cheap-ish helmets, preferable AGV ones, thanks. Smile

Ebay. They will likely be direct from the manufacturer with minimal profit tagged on. Probably still won't be much cheaper though. Also don't buy one second hand

I got my current AGV Stealth from this site:
https://racevisors.co.uk/

They're based in Guernsey. Mine was delivered in 3 days. They also
give you a free dark visor if you want it. See what you think of the prices.

Bought my Schuberth from Helmet City.

Good service, but no idea how AGV prices compare.

Got my lid from www.ghostbikes.com

cost me £35 but was like £41 inc delivery or something like that.

Cantilever strap or whatever it is,
ACU Gold Standard
Pegs for Visor Tear Offs (bit posery for road use IMO, but still Laughing )
Quick Release Visor

blah de blah,

overall a decent lid Thumbs Up

And visors are compatible with some of the VF series Nitro lids if I remember correctly.

Oh I almost forgot to say what it was lmao.

It's the Honolulu full face helmet by O'Neal.

Good to see you back KINGSM1LL. Was thinking you had given up on the idea of bikes due to a crap CBT school.

two things i say to myself when purchasing helmets/saftey gear.

"if youve got a ten quid head, by a £10 helmet"

"spent as much as you can possibly afford on something you hope to never use"

just a thought!

Surely if a 10 quid helmet has the same saftey rating as a 200 quid helmet then it makes no difference which you get?

If you're near a George Whites outlet I'd nip in there and try loads on.
They have a shop too on ebay with lots of agv ones amongst others. Smile

check the below website for government safety ratings.

Price does not reflect Safety.

However, the pricier lids may have extras (ie pinlock or sun visors) and may block out wind noise better (always wear earplugs).

Also theres a little something that hasn't been mentioned. All the cheap helmets are basically plastic injection molded whereas the more expensive ones are GRP.

What difference does this make?

Well at speed the GRP lid will rattle your head less as they tend to be a balanced unit. Makes quite a lot of difference on a long ride.

M & P for me...
They have a good selection online (with the added advantage for me that visiting their showroom is less than an hour away) Thumbs Up

They are pretty decent Thumbs Up

I do have to comment on this though, as cheap helmets (~£50) Are just as good as expensive helmets.

In some cases, it looks like you're just paying for the name.

My box helmet, which cost me £50, help up pretty damn well in my off, smashing against the concrete and has nothing to show for it.

Fair enough though if you want the peace of mind Thumbs Up

Just going back to the same one, couldn't really be bothered looking for a different one I just felt annoyed with the whole situation and want to get it out of the way, plus it's just close too.

I've got an AGV. I spent the bucks as I needed a helmet quick.

Compared to the shark helmet that I had before, I find it comfier, but it is very very noisy.

I wouldn't get another.

Hello,

I have a helmet which I am selling on www.gumtree.com. If you look under the city of Leicester and type helmet, you will see the full details. Its never been dropped and it has a couple of scratches on the top. Have a look and let me know what you think.

take care

Ebs Very Happy

Pros:
-nice visible colour
-5 star rating

Cons
-double-d ring strap. I really hate these as they are such a mess about IMO
-no pin-lock? Welcome to steam city Laughing
-no inner sun-visor?

I'm sorry to sound negative but for £150 you could get 3 cheap helemts that do the same thing and are just as safe.

Crowe Thumbs Up

they are safer than a seatbelt style clip-in strap, as you tighten them to the exact strength they should be everytime, and dont loosen over time...

there is no chance of them unclipping either, i prefer them over others. it takes 10 seconds once you are used to them.
