Redex anyone?

Anyone used this stuff Redex that you put in your full tank of petrol to clean the insides and is it any good?

I've never noticed any difference after adding a bottle. But I have hope it works and thus still buy a shot bottle once a year. Although I've been told that buying some premium fuel like BP Ultimate every now and again is just as good.

On carbs however, It's been great getting some varnished carbs back to a usable standard before I can bother stripping and cleaning them.

It does work. You only notice a difference if you carbs are well and truly gummed up though, otherwise it's just keeping them clean. It's like taking a course of antibiotics, if you weren't ill in the first place, you won't notice the effects. My local Asda are selling it for £2 for a 250 ml bottle, so maybe they all are, if people are thinking of buying it.

Running Optimax/V power for a couple of tanks will do pretty much the same job, nothing against Redex, I've used it in the past with good results but with modern fuels I don't think it is necessary unless things are really clarted up and you need to give it a super strength clear out (or just to smoke out the neighbours.)

i does help shift minor crap and also helps shift a little water in the fuel system. Also its good for stopping carb icing.

i used it once in the hyosung its killed the bike took carbs off and had a stickey goo all in it i only used 2 cap fulls to a full tank of gas

When i put my XS400 together, i used Redex in the 1st new full tank of fuel.
the carbs were stripped and cleaned.
i just felt that a small bottle of that would possibly clean any tiny nooks & crannies i missed.

seems to of done the trick? sort of? possibly?
mind you i did`nt buy it, it was sitting on the shelf in my garage so i just used it!

The Goo was probably already in the fuel tank/lines and the redex dislodged it.

I'll be putting this to the test as my GPZ's carbs were well and truly blocked up, so after i get the pilot screws sorted and get it running properly i'll be using the redex i have.

Should be interesting to see how it turns out
