Right, I hadn't realised until earlier today but insurance has just become very cheap!

TPFT I can insure (pretty much) anything for less than £160. I've done my time paying stupid premiums before any kiddies pipe up that it is unfair. Wink

I've decided I like the way the above bike looks, I would like to hear from anyone who has ridden one, how they ride etc?

Is it worth bothering with them at all considering the age and the fact that they tend appeal to a certain type of rider?

I can accept the fact that they will probably need the suspension looking at, but were they any good in the first place?

Anything you can tell me would be good, thanks.

No I don't like the SRAD Laughing

I've got one of them. I'm afraid I can't give you that much info as I haven't ridden any other bikes.
It seems fairly quick to me but as I've said I've got nothing to compare it to.
It does feel quite heavy to push around compared to newer bikes of a similar size but I suppose thats to be expected.
The good thing is they are not all that expensive so you could try it and alays sell it on if you don't get on with it.

I had one for about 10 months, loved it.

Good strong engine, reliable and were still pretty fast. I kept up with a Ducati 998 pretty easily on it (think it was that model).

Look out to see whether the downpipes have been replaced with stainless steel ones, as mine rusted through.

Good allrounder, had mine to 140 comfortably before I got scared, was still pulling though.

Those older cradle frame watercooled GSXRs are a bit heavy but once on the move handle well. Engines are generally tough, but 1992 WN models are occasionally known to burn valves on stock jetting.

Good lookers and plenty fast for mortals.

Oh and the 1100W engine fits Wink

Guy next door has had one for years. He had his set up by some race tuner and to be fair it goes bloody well. It's air & oil cooled i think?
Only negative thing i've heard is that the cam chain is a twat to do.

Not any worse than most other 4's.

for the 750, 1985-1991 they air air/oil cooled. After that they went watercooled.

I've owned one for the past 4 months.

A little heavy but plenty fast enough and a riot to ride. Not the fastest but definitely one of the most enjoyable bikes I've ridden. Handles very solidly and predictably once on the move - very confidence inspiring. And capable enough to keep up with anything but the fastest nutters on contemporary superbikes.

Very hard to find a mint one though. And the UK colour schemes were shite. But the Japanese and (I think) US spec imports had more classy schemes. Here's mine with 32k KM on the clock.

The SRAD was a major step forward though, but even harder to find a mint blue/blue/white one.

I never liked the blue/white ones.
There's 2 purple (mauve if you like) colour schemes and i think they're both very nice. And different from what everyone else has Smile
