Honda CG125BR-J - My Project

Hello guys!

I've bought a 1988 Honda CG125BR-J quite cheap - it's my first bike and also my first project.

First of all, I'm supprised how hard it is to find specific parts for what I assumed to be a very common model!

Anyway to the point now - I'm looking for advice to point me in the direction of some parts I need.

The first being a new tank (either I get a replacement or I have to repair a large dent in the side of mine). I'm also stuck to find transfers for the logos and perhaps the most annoying - the original chrome grab rail!

This is the sort of thing I'm aiming for:

It might be an odd choice of motorbike to restore but... well I don't really have an excuse!

yerr all the basic parts are about everywhere,but the ones you need maybe just once can't be found anywhere

hi i had the same bike 6 months ago you can try honda dealers or wemoto there online https://www.wemoto.com/ i think they have the chrome rack
there in Brighton but do mail order and as for the dent have you tried draining it taking it off filling it with water (ie brim it to the top) replace cap and putting it in the deep freeze if you dont have a big freezer then try your local butcher he might let you put it in his mine did but i did work there lol but it will take a a day or two
as the water freezes it expands and pops out the dents not all but normally the large ones just make sure it is really dry before you refill it you dont want water in your system

That looks very much like my BR-K, that has a nice ding in the tank too.

It might be cheaper to call a company like dentmaster than to replace the tank.

Got quoted for a new tank... it would be £238.15. Yeah that's not worth it...................

you might aswell look out for people on ebay who are breaking CG's and ask for the tank and get it painted

Mines blue too, and is planned for a re-furb once the weather gets a bit cold, BMW Estroll blue (I like the colour, and the irony of a 125 in the colour of an M3) Cool

Try https://www.sunrisegraphics.co.uk for the transfers/logos. Pricey but top quality, depends on how you wish the restoration to turn out, really.
