I would ask where you pay for the permit..... As could vary from council to council Thumbs Up

If you got a ticket, I can't see "Well my neighbour said I did not need one" working to avoid the fine....... Laughing

In Brighton, if you have a motorbike you HAVE to park it in a designated motorcycle bay, which are free. They do not allow bikes to have permits. If you park in pay and display spaces or resident's parking spaces (even if you are a resident), you WILL get ticketed (the council have farmed this out to NCP and they are traffic warden nazis).

So you could have a resident's parking permit on your car, but you cannot have one for the bike. The council will kindly send you a list of motorcycle parking bays (which they keep reminding you are free - matter of time though I reckon), which are half a car space wide. Odds are you will not have one in your road so if you have a bike you have to park it on private land, or a couple of roads away.

If you use a bike to go into town then again you have to use the designated bike parking bays, they are usually full. Most car parks say no motorcycles.

Brighton is not biker friendly at all - however if you have a bicycle the mayor will alow you to park it in the crack of his arse if you want. Also they are tarmacing all bicycle lanes (extensive) in red, as the bicyclists felt a bit common riding on the black tarmac.

I need to move.

In Kingston you don't need a permit, you don't need one in walthamstow. Westminster you do, kensington you do for resident's bays.

It varies from town to town. You need to ask your the people who issue your permit.
