As above I have recently got a set from China, wired them all up in the house just to test to see if it was ok.

In one setting (can't remember whether it was Lo or Hi) the HID bulb would vibrate! I'm like is that normal or what? As when on the other setting it doesn't vibrate!

Both arcs in the bulb light up fine.

Just baffle! Also are they suppose to get seriously hot?

Cheers

Yes they will get hot. They don't convert electrical energy into light with 100% efficiency, so the rest of the energy they are using is making heat.

As for it vibrating, if its a hi/lo combined bulb with a single filament it probably has an actuator in it to move the filament or a shield or such, and if there is insufficient power, or its faulty or not getting the correct signal input, then that could cause it to vibrate.

My HID's in my van are H4 and they sound like they make a very high pitch vibrating noise or maybe its just the sweet sound of electricity, and they click when i go to high beam because a magnet activated to pull the bulb down thus directing the light differently, and yes they get very hot.

not sure on a bike, but on my van, i think you see less, like banks trees and stuff, but road signs and cats eyes you can see for miles, but i have no fog lights on my van (front) and the HID's seem to cut straight through the fog and i can see more in that. mine are 8000k (blue tinge) but my mate has the 6000k's on his car and i can see more banks etc with his but less cats eyes as they are white light rather than bluey tinge.

This is my car with 6000K HID's next to a mates identical car with 4300K's... If you want a properly white light 4300 is the way to go
